About Samuel's Index
The science of bilateral concordance indexing.
What is a Bilateral Concordance?
Traditional concordances (like Strong's) list occurrences sequentially. This makes it difficult to recognize verbal patterns, repeated phrases, or formulaic language. Samuel's Index restructures the Bible into two perspectives:
- Left-Context Sorting: Groups verses by their common precursors. For instance, searching "covenant" immediately groups all verses containing "make a covenant", "established his covenant", or "everlasting covenant" together.
- Right-Context Sorting: Groups verses by their subsequent paths. For instance, searching "commanded" immediately groups what was commanded (e.g., "commanded them to", "commanded the children of").
How it Works
Samuel's Index parses all 31,102 verses of the King James Bible. For each target word, a context window of 180 words is computed. An advanced SQLite database performs bilateral sorting using custom-built collation keys, rendering search queries in less than 2 milliseconds.
This allows bible students, researchers, and pastors to execute fast linguistic comparisons and structural analyses that were previously impossible.
Begin in Prayer
The proper way to read the Word is to invite the Lord to read it with you.
9 After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
10
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done
in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12
And forgive us our debts,
as we forgive our debtors.
13
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever.
Amen.
